Glycosylation Screening

Glycosylation is one of the most common post translation modification of proteins and lipids.

Glycosylation is one of the most common post translation modification of proteins and lipids. In cases of tumour, cell transformation is accompanied by glycosylation that gives rise to tumour associate glycan instigating tumour invasion. In terms of immune response anti-glycan antibodies recognize tumour-associated glycans, and these antibodies can be present in the bloodstream in the early stages of cancer and therefore been of greater interest in cancer biology. Microarray Technology has been one of the robust approaches for studying anti-glycan antibodies. Analysis of glycan microarrays can specify or suggest the role of glycans in the progression of different diseases, making it possible to identify new biomarkers for diagnosing cancer and/or the state of the disease.

2BScientific Limited in association with Vector Laboratories offer glycan detection kits for  Immunohistochemistry application in tumour-based tissues and through Ray Biotech expertise in array technology provides glycan microarray analysis  identify glycan binding partners in various biological samples, such as serum, plasma, and cell lysates. Since detection tools in glycobiology is limited, our suppliers have the expertise and are well established through publications

Lectenz BioLectenz Bio

Lectenz Bio offers glycan and lectin detection and profiling capabilities with 2 of their platforms. The Lectenz platform targets Sialic acids by offering a SiaFind Kit that can look for high specificity detection of terminal sialic acid on glycoconjugates. The GlycoSense™ using a multiplex microsphere-based flow cytometry assay for simplified terminal glycoprofiling.

RayBiotechRay Biotech

Ray Biotech a pioneer in Protein array technology and assay development can provide binding partners for 100 different glycans and 300 different glycans as well as lectin arrays for 95 and 70 targets. These arrays can help with glycosylation determination, drug discovery and biomarker development all with limited sample volume of 10-100ul per array.

  • Benefits of these arrays is that they identify the glycans binding partners in biological samples.
  • Identify whether target proteins are carbohydrate binding proteins.
  • Probe binding of viruses and whole cells to glycans.
  • Profile the substrate specificity of enzymes (glycosyltransferases, glycosidases, etc.).
  • Profile the inflammatory immune response.
