Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) is a mitogenic peptide growth hormone carried in the alpha-granules of platelets and is released when platelets adhere to traumatized tissues. Connective tissue cells near the traumatized region respond by initiating the process of replication. The synthesis of PDGF can be induced by IL-1, IL-6, TNF-A Alpha, TGF-B Beta and EGF. Recombinant mouse PDGF-BB is a non-glycosylated, disulfide-linked homodimer, containing two 109 amino acids chains, with a total molecular weight of 24.6 kDa.

Bioactivity of Mouse Platelet Derived Growth Factor BB Recombinant Protein. Serial dilutions of Mouse PDGF-BB, starting at 100 ng/mL, were added to NIH 3T3 cells. After 40 hours, cell viability was measured and the linear portion of the curve was us used to calculate the ED50. The ED50 of Mouse PDGF-BB is 0.2-0.3 ng/mL. This value is comparable to the typical expected range of 1-3 ng/mL.
