Mutations in this gene are associated with the neurodegenerative disease; PHARC (polyneuropathy; hearing loss; ataxia; retinitis pigmentosa; and cataract); resulting from an inborn error of endocannabinoid metabolism. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene.
