- Extra Details:
- Brorin (also VWC2, von Willebrand Factor C domain-containing protein 2) is a secreted, 48-49 kD member of the chordin family of proteins. It is expressed by neurons in multiple sites, and serves to sequester BMP family proteins such as BMP-2 and BMP-6. BMP antagonism is suggested to generate neurons from neural precursor cells at the expense of astrocytes. Human Brorin precursor is 325aa in length. It contains a 27aa signal sequence, one poly-Ala region (aa120-127), and two von Willebrand factor C domains (aa153-212 and 216-274) that likely serve as BMP interaction sites. Over aa28-325, human Brorin shares 90% aa identity with mouse Brorin. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
