- Lectins are derived from the extracts of plants, animals, viruses and microorganisms and are known to agglutinate red blood cells. These agglutinins can select cell types according to blood group activities utilizing sugar-binding mechanisms. Lectins form precipitates with glycoconjugates and are useful for identifying or separating oligosaccharides with identical sugar compositions such as galactose, mannose or glucose. Source: Wheat germ Form: Supplied as a liquid covalently bound to 4% agarose (exclusion limit MW 5-15 million). Bead Size: 50-250um Spacer: None Linkage Between Spacer & Bead: Imidoester Protein Concentration: 4-5mg purified WGA/ml settled beads Carbohydrate for Elution: 0.1M N-acetylglucosamine or 0.01M chitobiose in buffer Storage Buffer: PBS, pH 7.2-7.4, 0.05% sodium azide. Quality Control: SDS-PAGE Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at 4°C. Do not freeze. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
