- IL-6 is a cytokine with a wide variety of biological functions. It plays an essential role in the final differentiation of B-cells into Ig-secreting cells. It induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth, nerve cells differentiation in hepatocytes, and acute phase reactants. Applications: Suitable for use in Neutralization, Immunohistochemistry, ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: Neutralization: 0.24-0.36ug/ml yields one-half maximal inhibition (ND50) of the biological activity of mIL-6 (0.3ng/ml). ELISA (capture): 0.5-2.0ug/ml (100ul/well) detects 0.2-0.4ng/well of recombinant mIL-6 using 143631 as a detection antibody. Western Blot: 0.1-0.2ug/ml detects 1.5-3.ng/lane of recombinant mIL-6, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. Immunohistochemistry: 0.5ug/ml incubated overnight at 4˚C stained colchicine injected mouse brain (cingulate cortex) tissue Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
