- Insulin Like Growth Factor-I (IGF-I) is a polypeptide growth factor which stimulates the proliferation of a wide range of cell types including muscle, bone, and cartilage tissue. Recombinant Human IGF-I is a single, nonglycosylated, 7.6kD protein containing 70 amino acid residues. Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-I) is involved in regulation of neuronal growth and development in central and peripheral nervous system. It is known to protect neurons against cell death induced by amyloidogenic derivatives, glucose or serum deprivation through pathways involving AKT kinase and transcription factor FKHRL1 phosphorylation. Activation of the insulin-like growth factor system has emerged as a key factor for tumor progression and resistance to apoptosis in many cancers like breast and thyroid cancers. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Neutralization, ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections Optimal dilutions to be detemined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
