- FK506 binding protein, 51kD molecular weight (FKBP51) is a peptidyl-prolyl isomerase that catalyzes the transition between cis- and trans- proline residues critical for proper folding of proteins. The macrolide immunosuppressants FK506 and Rapamycin are FKBP51 inhibitors. FKBP51 levels are induced by glucocorticoids. It associates with HSP90 complexes that are critical for the proper folding of steroid receptors. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in FKBP51 have been associated with major depression and hyper-responsiveness to antidepressants. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.3ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
