- Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) is a 180kD tumor-associated cell surface glycoprotein. CEA is synthesized during development in the fetal gut. It is re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and several other tumors. Anti-CEA is reportedly useful in identifying the origin of various metastatic adenocarcinomas and in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60-70% are CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA+). Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Solid Phase Immobilization, Enzyme Conjugation and Radiolabeling. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: P3X63-Ag8.653 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
