Extra Details:
GSTM2, also known as Glutathione S-transferase Mu 2, is member of the glutathione s-transferase (GST) family of proteins. There are eight families of GST proteins, namely alpha, kappa, mu, omega, pi, sigma, theta and zeta, each of which is composed of proteins that have a variety of functions throughout the cell. The mu class of enzymes functions in the detoxification of electrophilic compounds, including carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins and products of oxidative stress, by conjugation with glutathione. Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-218 from human GSTM2, fused to His-tag at N-terminal expressd in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~27.9kD (238aa) Specific Activity: >250units/mg, and is defined as the amount of enzyme that conjugate 1umole of 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (CDNB) with reduced glutathione/minute at pH 6.5 and 25°C. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
