Disperse violet 17 is a colorant that belongs to the class of quaternary ammonium compounds. It is synthesized from acrylonitrile and sodium carbonate, with the reaction yield determined by the temperature. Disperse violet 17 has been used for the production of detergent compositions that have a reactive and activated particle in an organic solution. The alkyl substituents are fixed in the molecule at different positions and determine its color, reactivity, and solubility.
