Extra Details:
Azure A is a diagnostic agent that is used to detect the presence of azurea in diptera larvae. It is also used as an inhibitor molecule in polymerase chain reactions and genotoxic activity assays. Azure A has been found to have antimicrobial activity against human serum and miapaca-2 cells, as well as anti-inflammatory properties. The mechanism of action for this drug involves binding to DNA and inhibiting the synthesis of RNA. The drug also binds to transferable dyes such as tetrazolium dye and stains such as methylene blue, which leads to a staining reaction. Azure A can be detected using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) by measuring the degree of impedance change between two electrodes in response to an alternating current that flows through them. Synonyms: Azure A chloride; CI 52005; Azure eosin methylene blue; 7-Amino-N,N-dimethyl-3H-phenothiazin-3-iminium chloride CAS No: 531-53-3 Molecular Formula: C₁₄H₁₄N₃S•Cl Molecular Weight: 291.81 Purity: Dye content: ≥97% Solubility: Water: Clear blue solution (0.1% aq.); DMSO: Slightly soluble: 0.1-1mg/ml; PBS (pH 7.2) Appearance: Dark green to green-black to black-brown powder Melting Point: 288-292°C (dec.)
