- Keratins (cytokeratins) are intermediate filament proteins that are mainly expressed in epithelial cells. Keratin heterodimers composed of an acidic keratin (or type I keratin, keratins 9 to 23) and a basic keratin (or type II keratin, keratins 1 to 8) assemble to form filaments. Keratin isoforms demonstrate tissue- and differentiation-specific profiles that make them useful as biomarkers. Mutations in keratin genes are associated with skin disorders, liver and pancreatic diseases, and inflammatory intestinal diseases. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunofluorescence/ Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunofluorescence (IC): 1:250-1:1000 Western Blot: 1:250-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: F0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
