- Marburg virus is a highly contagious and severe virus that belongs to the Filoviridae family, which also includes the Ebola virus. The disease was first identified in 1967 when outbreaks occurred simultaneously in Marburg and Frankfurt, Germany, as well as in Belgrade, Yugoslavia (now Serbia). Marburg virus is transmitted to humans from animals, with bats believed to be the natural reservoir. The virus can be transmitted between humans through direct contact with the blood, secretions, organs, or other bodily fluids of infected individuals. Human-to-human transmission can also occur through contact with surfaces and materials contaminated with these fluids. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
