- Brucella abortus is a species of bacteria that can cause brucellosis, a zoonotic infectious disease primarily affecting cattle, but it can also infect other animals, including humans. It is one of the main causes of bovine brucellosis, a significant concern in livestock farming due to its economic impact and potential for transmission to humans. In cattle, Brucella abortus primarily infects the reproductive organs, leading to abortion, retained placenta, and infertility. Infected animals can shed the bacteria in their bodily fluids, such as milk, placental tissues, and vaginal discharges, contaminating the environment and spreading the infection to other animals. Humans typically contract brucellosis through direct contact with infected animals or consumption of unpasteurized dairy products from infected animals. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Lateral Flow. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
