- Tau protein, encoded by the MAPT gene (UniProt ID: P10636), is a microtubule-associated protein essential for maintaining neuronal structure and intracellular transport. The Tau-430 isoform (2N4R) includes two N-terminal inserts and four microtubule-binding repeats, representing a key variant expressed in the adult human brain.
