Alpha-synuclein (A Alpha-syn), a neuronal protein encoded by the SNCA gene, plays a central role in synaptic function and plasticity. In its monomeric form, A Alpha-syn is subject to post-translational modifications, with N-terminal acetylation being one of the most prevalent and biologically significant.
