- SC 514 is a selective and reversible inhibitor of IK KappaB kinase 2 (IKKB Beta), a key regulator of the NF-K KappaB signaling pathway. By blocking IKKB Beta activity, SC 514 prevents the phosphorylation and degradation of IK KappaBA Alpha, thereby inhibiting NF-K KappaB activation. In neurodegenerative disease research, SC 514 is used to explore the role of NF-K KappaB in neuroinflammation, glial activation, and neuronal survival. Its >10-fold selectivity over other kinases such as JNK, p38, MK2, and ERK enhances its utility in dissecting inflammatory signaling in the brain.
