- Alpha-synuclein (1-13) is derived from the alpha-synuclein intrinsically disordered protein which is found in the neurons and presynaptic terminals. The accumulation of alpha-synuclein has been associated with the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson disease, dementia with Lewy bodies and multiple system atrophy. The methionine at position 5 is oxidised.
