- CYTL1 is a cytokine-like protein specifically expressed in bone marrow and cord blood mononuclear cells that bear the CD34 surface marker. CYTL1 exhibits specific expression in CD34+ hematopoietic cells; indicating its selective presence within this subset of cells involved in the regulation of hematopoiesis. CYTL1 regulates chondrogenesis and is required for the maintenance of cartilage homeostasis and; in addition; may act as a regulator of embryo implantation in early pregnancy.
