- Heparitin sulfate lyase (Heparinase III) is a glycosidic bond-cleaving enzyme with activity toward specific heparin glycosidic bonds. Heparitin sulfate lyase cleaves specific heparin glycosidic bonds via β-elimination; generating unsaturated glucuronic acid oligosaccharides and various modified disaccharides. Heparitin sulfate lyase exhibits broad substrate specificity and can be used in combination with heparinase I to compensate for the low selectivity of heparinase I at heparin N-acetylation modification binding sites. Heparitin sulfate lyase can be used for heparin characterization and the preparation of low-molecular-weight heparin[1].
