- Kex2 Protease; Saccharomyces cerevisiae (EC 3.4.21.61) is a calcium-dependent serine protease capable of cleaving C-terminal lysine-arginine; arginine-arginine; and proline-arginine residues during the maturation of α-factor precursors and cytotoxic toxin precursors. Kex2 Protease; Saccharomyces cerevisiae (EC 3.4.21.61) cannot recognize and cleave the C-terminal peptide bonds of single basic amino acids; such as arginine and lysine.
