Lavofloxacin lactate binds to DNA rotase and topoisomerase IV; resulting in blocked DNA replication and repair; thus inhibiting bacterial growth. Lavofloxacin lactate can be used to study resistance mechanisms in bacteria; including studying resistance genes and mutations[1].
