- Vinblastine sulfate is a semisynthetic alkaloidal anticancer agent. It induces cell cycle arrest at G2/M phase by inhibiting mitotic spindle formation. It also inhibits normal microtubule assembly and induces aberrant tubulin polymerization. Vinblastine sulfate induces apoptosis in a variety of cell lines, inhibits autophagosome maturation, and palmitoylation of tubulin. Vinblastine sulfate also suppresses nAChR activity with IC50 of 8.9 uM in a cell-free assay.
