- DPN is a potent estrogen ERB Beta receptor agonist with 70-fold selectivity over ERA Alpha, at each of which it has EC50 values of 0.85 and 66 nM respectively. In vitro, DPN is able to relax mesenteric arteries and can regulate expression of GluR1, GluR2 and GluR3 in rat hippocampus. DPN stimulates proliferation of the androgen-independent prostate cancer cell line PC-3 via a novel pathway involving ERB Beta-mediated activation of B Beta-catenin and promotes the migration and invasion of androgen'independent DU'145 prostate cancer cells. In vivo, DPN is able to ameliorate portal hypertension in a carbon tetrachloride induced liver cirrhosis rat model.
