Apelin-36 (human) binds with high affinity to human apelin receptors expressed in HEK 293 cells (pIC50= 8.61) and is linked to two major types of biological activity: cardiovascular, such as stimulation of cardiac contractility and suppression of blood pressure, and metabolic, including improving glucose homeostasis and lowering body weight, and regulation of cardiovascular function, fluid homeostasis and feeding.
