Vanoxonin is a natural product delivered from cell culture of Saccharopolyspora hirsuta MG245-CF2 as an inhibitor of thymidylate synthetase. Vanoxonin forms a complex with a vanadium (V5+) which exhibits a strong inhibition against the synthetase. Howeber, Vanoxonin alone shows weak inhibition (IC50: 200 µg/mL). Vanoxonin-V5+ complex also showed in vitro cytotoxic activity against L-1210 lymphatic leukemia cells (MIC: 25 μg/mL).
