- Elastic fibers are mainly distributed in the walls of human arteries; alveolar walls and skin. Fresh fibers appear yellow with strong refractivity. Commonly used elastic fiber staining methods include Gomori aldehyde-fuchsin; Weigert’s resorcin–fuchsin; orcein; Victoria blue and iron-iodine hematoxylin. Resorcin–basic fuchsin staining solution is used primarily for elastic fibers and is also known as Weigert’s resorcin–fuchsin staining solution. Victoria blue; a triphenylmethane dye; can demonstrate elastic fibers and hepatitis B surface antigen. It is resistant to over-staining and the stained color fades very slowly. EnkiLife Victoria Blue Elastic Fiber Staining Solution is intended for demonstrating elastic fibers and hepatitis B surface antigen. It helps to determine whether elastic fibers in tissues are proliferated; broken or disintegrated; thus assisting in diagnosis.
