The protein may bind both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria via an extracellular; C-terminal; scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) domain. In addition to short cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains; there is an extracellular spacer domain and a long; extracellular collagenous domain.
