- Human IFN-G Gamma (interferon-G Gamma) is an important immunomodulatory cytokine belonging to the Type II interferon family. It plays a key role in probiotic and adaptive immune responses, and has a wide range of biological functions, including antiviral, anti-tumor, immunomodulatory, and promoting cell proliferation and differentiation. IFN-G Gamma is mainly produced by activated T cells (such as CD4+ and CD8+ T cells) and natural killer cells (NK cells). It is a non-covalent homologous dimer consisting of two 16 kDa subunits, which is modified by glycosylation to form a biologically active dimer. The molecular weight of IFN-G Gamma is about 16 kDa, but higher molecular weight polymers can be formed under non-denatured conditions. IFN-G Gamma, as an important immunomodulatory cytokine, plays a key role in both natural and adaptive immune responses. It not only has antiviral, anti-tumor and immunomodulatory functions, but also plays an important role in the occurrence and development of autoimmune diseases. Future studies will further reveal the specific mechanisms of IFN-G Gamma in different diseases and provide new ideas for its clinical application.
