- MCSFR(Macrophage colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor), also known as CD115 and CSF1R, is a single-pass type I membrane tyrosine-protein kinase and a member of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor family. It acts as a cell-surface receptor for CSF1 (M-CSF) and IL34, playing essential roles in regulating survival, proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic precursor cells, especially mononuclear phagocytes, osteoclasts, and microglia. It mediates innate immunity, inflammatory processes, normal bone/tooth development, and mammary gland maturation during pregnancy. Ligand binding induces its homodimerization, phosphorylation and activation of downstream pathways (ERK1/2, JNK, AKT1), and promotes cancer cell invasion. It is expressed on monocytes/macrophages, dendritic cells and osteoclasts.
