- ST2 belongs to a group of proteins with high homology with immunoglobulin superfamily member interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1R) in sequence. In mammalian models, when myocardial tissue is subjected to physical stress changes, ST2 expression will be significantly increased, and its level will lead to a large number of atrial fibroblasts proliferation. Studies have shown that ST2 may lead to myocardial fibrosis by inhibiting the protective effect of myocardial cells mediated by signaling pathways.
