At Echelon we have 25 years of ELISA expertise and 15 years experience in the HA field. Each sample, once received, is cataloged and stored according to your requirements. The Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Screening Service runs each sample (in duplicate) in the HA ELISA. Results are provided as an average of the duplicates, in ng/mL HA. We often have results in less than 2 weeks from receipt of samples and can accommodate tighter schedules if needed. \n \nPlease contact abranch@echelon-inc.com for any questions or to receive a quote. \n \nSample Volume: 300 uL for the average of duplicate data points \nSample Type: purified, human and animal biological fluids, cell supernatants \nAssay Range: 50-1600 ng/ml \nSensitivity: 25 ng/mL \nSample considerations: The HA ELISA works best with HA molecules that are greater than 25 repeating units (dimers). \n \n \n \nProduct Background \nHyaluronic acid (HA) is a high molecular weight anionic polysaccharide (1,000-10,000 kD) composed of repeating disaccharides and is one of several glycosaminoglycan components of the extracellular matrix of connective tissue. \n \nFree HA is taken up by the liver where it is degraded and recycled. Many chronic liver diseases, including infection (hepatitis B or C), toxicity (alcohol and drugs), genetic (hemochromatosis), autoimmunity, and malignancy, result in liver inflammation which can progress to liver fibrosis and cirrhosis; causing impairment of liver function and resulting in a rapid increase in circulating HA levels. \n \nData indicates a relationship between HA levels, local inflammation and severity of disease. Recent publications have also shown that HA levels in urine are indicative of bladder cancer, that HA levels are directly correlated to liver disease, and suggests enhanced breakdown of HA in the lungs of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
