- 1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) is a phosphocholine with two palmitic acids on its head-group and is used in formulation of medicines. \n \nPhosphatidylcholine (PC) is generally the most abundant lipid in animal cell membranes providing structural framework. PC is more common in the outer leaflet where it functions as part of the permeability barrier.
