- Bioactivity
- Extra Details:
- FGF-19 (Fibroblast Growth Factor 19) is an endocrine member of the FGF family, primarily produced in the intestine and released into circulation. It signals through FGFR4 in combination with the co-receptor β-Klotho, activating downstream pathways such as MAPK and PI3K-AKT to regulate metabolic processes. Functionally, FGF-19 plays a key role in bile acid homeostasis, glucose and lipid metabolism, and liver regeneration. In *in vitro* cell and organoid culture systems, FGF-19 is commonly used to support hepatocyte expansion, maintain metabolic function, and improve the physiological relevance of liver and intestinal organoid models. Dysregulation of FGF-19 signaling is associated with metabolic disorders and liver disease.
