- Extra Details:
- IL-17A (Interleukin-17A) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine mainly produced by Th17 cells, as well as γδ T cells and innate lymphoid cells. It signals through the IL-17RA/IL-17RC receptor complex, activating NF-κB and MAPK pathways to induce inflammatory responses. Functionally, IL-17A promotes chemokine and cytokine production, drives neutrophil recruitment, and plays a key role in mucosal defense against extracellular bacteria and fungi. In in vitro cell and organoid models, IL-17A is commonly used to mimic inflammatory microenvironments and often acts synergistically with TNF-α or IL-22. Dysregulated IL-17A signaling is implicated in autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis and inflammatory bowel disease.
