- Extra Details:
- IFN-α2b (Interferon-α2b) is a cytokine produced by immune cells and belongs to the type I interferon family. It exerts antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory effects primarily through activation of the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, and is widely used in the treatment of viral infections and tumors. Its antiviral activity is mediated by inducing the production of antiviral proteins that inhibit viral replication, making it useful for preventing or controlling viral contamination in cell culture. The antiproliferative function involves regulation of the cell cycle—such as arrest in the G1 phase—thereby inhibiting the growth of certain tumor cells or rapidly proliferating cell types, which supports research on cell cycle mechanisms and cancer therapy. Additionally, IFN-α2b enhances the expression of MHC class I molecules, promotes antigen presentation, and activates immune effector cells including NK cells and T cells, rendering it applicable in immunology-related studies.
