- Extra Details:
- TGF-β1 (Transforming Growth Factor-β1) is a multifunctional cytokine belonging to the TGF-β superfamily. It inhibits the growth of most epithelial, endothelial, and hematopoietic cells by inducing cell cycle arrest in the G1 phase. In stem cell culture, TGF-β1 can direct the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts, chondrocytes, or adipocytes. In organoid culture systems, it regulates extracellular matrix (ECM) formation and influences tissue organization. Additionally, TGF-β1 exhibits immunomodulatory effects by suppressing the activation of T cells, B cells, NK cells, and macrophages, thereby reducing inflammatory responses. In co-culture systems—such as those involving immune and tumor cells—TGF-β1 can help mimic an immune-suppressive microenvironment.
