- Bioactivity
- Extra Details:
- IFN-γ (Interferon-gamma) is a cytokine produced by immune cells such as T cells and NK cells, belonging to the type II interferon family. It plays a central role in immune regulation, antiviral and antitumor responses, and immune defense. IFN-γ induces the production of antiviral proteins (e.g., PKR, OAS) that inhibit viral replication and enhances the phagocytic and pathogen-killing capacity of macrophages. In terms of cell proliferation and apoptosis, IFN-γ suppresses the growth of certain tumor cells and promotes their apoptosis. In stem cell culture, it inhibits the adipogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) while promoting osteogenic differentiation.
