- Bioactivity
- Extra Details:
- FGF-4 (Fibroblast Growth Factor 4), a member of the FGF family, is a secreted glycoprotein that activates downstream signaling pathways (such as MAPK and PI3K-AKT) by binding to its receptors (FGFRs). It promotes cell proliferation, differentiation, migration, and survival, playing a central role in embryonic development, mesoderm formation, and stem cell maintenance. In stem cells, it helps maintain pluripotency; for example, FGF-4 and LIF (Leukemia Inhibitory Factor) act synergistically to sustain the undifferentiated state of mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs). Additionally, FGF-4 can promote the differentiation of specific cell types and is used in the culture of primary cells.
