- VEGF165 (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor 165), one of the major isoforms of VEGF-A, functions as a disulfide-linked homodimer and plays a critical role in angiogenesis and cell culture. It activates the VEGFR2/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway to inhibit apoptosis and is commonly used to sustain the proliferative capacity of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and microvascular endothelial cells in vitro. In Matrigel-based tube formation assays, VEGF165 stimulates endothelial cells to form tubular structures, thereby mimicking the process of angiogenesis. In stem cell differentiation systems, it can induce commitment to endothelial cell lineages or support the development of vascular-like structures.
