Catalyzes the oxidative NADPH-dependent deiodination of monoiodotyrosine (L-MIT) or diiodotyrosine (L-DIT) (PubMed:15289438, PubMed:25395621, PubMed:18434651). Acts during the hydrolysis of thyroglobulin to liberate iodide, which can then reenter the hormone-producing pathways (PubMed:18434651). Acts more efficiently on monoiodotyrosine than on diiodotyrosine (PubMed:15289438).

Immunofluorescence staining of A549 cells with CSB-PA754272LA01HU at 1:166, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L).
