That explains why our EIA kits using coated antibodies are also called ELISA kits.|Interleukin 22 (IL-22) is one of the 9 members of the IL-10 family(1) (IL-10/IL-19/IL-20/IL-22/IL-24/IL-26/IL-28A/IL-28B and IL-29).|IL-22 is a polypeptide of 146 amino acids with a molecular weight of 16.7 kDa(2). IL-22 structure contains six antiparallel helices(3). It is produced at a monomeric state(4) by cells from the lymphoid lineage(5) (CD4+ T cells; Th22 subpopulation; NK cells) . This cytokine acts only on non-hematopoietic stromal cells; in particular epithelial cells; keratinocytes; and hepatocytes(6).|IL-22 increases the innate immunity of tissue cells (induction of antimicrobial molecules); protects tissues from damage; and enhances their regenerations(3).|Upregulation is find in many diseases like psoriasis and Crohn's disease.
