- This antibody binds the C2 domain of the human factor VIII, a glycoprotein involved in blood coagulation. Factor VIII acts as a cofactor for factor IXa which converts factor X to the activated form Xa in the presence of calcium and phospholipids. Defects in the F8 gene, which encodes Factor VIII, result in the coagulation disorder hemophilia A.
