- This antibody was raised by immunizing a 43-year-old white male using a subcutaneous injection of 40 mg of Hib PS vaccine. Five days later, mononuclear cells (MNC) were isolated from 60 ml of peripheral blood with Lymphoprep. Two cell populations were used for RNA isolation: unfractionated MNC and a HibId-1-enriched population, isolated with magnetic beads.

- This antibody is specific for the capsular polysaccharide protien of Haemophilus influenzae. This protein is part of the polysaccharide layer that lies outside the cell envelope. Haemophilus influenzae causes bacteremia, pneumonia, epiglottitis and acute bacterial meningitis.
