- This antibody is specific for the B subunit of Shiga-like toxin 1. This antibody does not bind B polypeptide of Stx2. Stx 1 is a toxin produced by Shiga toxin (Stx)-producing E. coli (STEC) strains. Infections with STEC can lead to diarrhea, hemorrhagic colitis, and hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).
