- Specificity:
- This antibody recognises human von Willebrand factor (also know as Factor VIII related antigen). It is produced by endothelial cells and megakaryocytes and is involved in the process of hemostasis by engaging in adhesion of platelets to the sites of vascular injury. Mutations in this gene lead to Von Willebrand's disease which causes frequent bleeding.
