- White leghorn chickerns were immunised by intramuscular injection of a preparation of cell wall-bound proteins isolated from the wh1-2 fungus strain of F. verticilliodes. Splenocytes were obtained from immunised chickens and used for RNA extraction and cDNA synthesis.

- FvCA4 was shown to exhibit a high affinity for F. verticilliodes cell wall-bound proteins using ELISA with both soluble antibody fragment or phage-expressed antibody (Hu et al, 2012). Again shown by ELISA, FvCA4 cross-reacted with several other Fusarium species, but not with non-Fusarium fungi.
