- BALB/c mice were immunized with human T lymphoblasts and spleen cells of the immunized animals were fused with X63-Ag8.653 mouse myeloma cells. The supernatants of the resultant hybridomas were screened by a proliferation inhibition assay (inhibition of the human T lymphoblast response to IL-2). Two of those (the clones AHT54 and AHT107) that produced antibodies which inhibited IL-2 dependent proliferation of human T lymphoblasts were selected, cloned and recloned.

Suggested that determinant recognised by AHT107 is involved in formation of the high-affinity binding site of the p55 + p75 heterodimeric complex of the IL-2R in a way which does not disturb the interaction of the p55 molecule and IL-2, and that the high-affinity class of the IL-2R is responsible for mediating the growth signal at physiological concen
