- Jel 103 is highly specific for single-stranded RNA and shows sequence specificity as it binds to poly(rI) but not to poly(dI), poly(rG) or to any other homopolymer - it does not bind randomly to calf thymus DNA. Jel 103 Fab is shown to form base stacking interactions with a Tyr residue and two salt-bridge interactions to the phosphate backbone with Lys and Arg residues.
